There is no contradiction. Just like my relationship (although not even close to the beauty of God)with my kids, they see me loving, kind, sweet. They also see my corrective side that gets hard when they do wrong. I'm doing a comparison but NOTHING compares to the beauty of God nor to the side of him that judges sin. He is loving but Just. He's beautiful but like a lion.
I believe in Near death experiences. I believe sometimes we die and it's not our time. In that time we feel and see a glimpse of eternity/heaven and feel that incredible love. But God wants to send us back because it's not time. For whatever reason he allows people to sometimes have these experiences.
