I have had a Mirena for about 16 months, and I had the bleeding, the slowing of the bleeding, the multiple periods per months, and now no period. I gained a lot of weight, but I have successfully (and without that much difficulty) lost 25 pounds.
My main complaints are A. that after I stopped nursing, I didn't completely stop lactating, and it's a bit annoying. I nursed my other children too, but when I stopped, the milk always stopped too. The only difference this time is the Mirena. B. I have very little sex drive and when I do want to have sex, I almost never cllmax anymore. I have never had that problem before either. I don't even always reach orgasm when I spank the monkey. When I do, it's just not what it used to be.
I've kept trying to attribute everything first to the fact that I was still nursing (my daughter is now 28 months old, but I nursed her until about 18 months), then to the fact that I am perpetually tired because of my work schedule and the fact that I have 4 kids. But the bottom line is that I have been tired before and I've nursed before, and I never experienced any of this. I'm too young for menopause (33), so I don't think it's that either.
My biggest problem is that I don't know what to replace the Mirena with. I've tried various pills unsuccessfully, and my diaphragm gave me horrible yeast infections. I have tried other IUD's but I bled copiously on all of them. (I have had a different one after each birth.)
Does anybody have any suggestions for what else I might try?
