Hello,
Unless you have identified your allergen/irritant culprit, you will remain vulnerable and frustrated in your attempts to heal your body. Suppression or covering up the symptoms is not healing and only promotes temporary relief with longterm suffering. Your need to find immediate relief from the itch is understandable; however, as you seek that immediate relief be aware of the need to address the restoration of your immune health and the toxins that are overwhelming your system. Your body is messaging to you, through the eczema flareup, the presence of toxins in your blood stream. Toxins are eliminated out of the body through the bowels, kidneys and the skin. Your skin's persistent eczema reaction is telling you that the toxic agent causing your eczema irritation has not been addressed and still remains in your body or immediate environment.
Based upon the location of your eczema breakout, it seems that you are demonstrating a contact allergic eczema reaction. If this is the case, then identifying your allergen/irritant does not have to be such a difficult task. For example, chemicals from detergent or bleach used to clean socks could such an irritation. Contact with poison ivy could cause such an irritation. These are simply guesses based upon the very limited amount of information that you've given. It is imperative that you identify your allergen/irritant, so that you can rid the body of the cause of your breakout. Applying creams/lotions/oils/medications without identifying the culprit of your breakouts will continue to frustrate your body's ability to heal. The fact that your physician failed to address your nutritional health to bring restoration to your immune health; and the fact that he or she failed to express the importance of identifying your allergen/irritant culprit, has done you a great disservice.
My nieces were diagnosed with hereditary eczema and suffered severe (total body) eczema flareups in their infancy. Because of my family's history with eczema suffering; and because I knew first hand the damaging effects of harmful steroid/corticosteroid medications, I searched for natural alternatives to healing their skin. A severe breakout was healed in two weeks time (no visible scarring remaining) and has endured for over 5 years without the use of medications. By applying common sense principals, my nieces skin began to heal. We attacked the eczema in these three areas: internal (immune health), external (natural skin care/rehydration), & foreign (identification of their allergen/irritant culprits). Heredity doesn't instigate flareups; it just signifies poor immune health. Eczema flareups are instigated. The culprits for their eczema flareups were wrong baby formula and dust mites. Because we knew that the eczema reactions signaled poor immune health, we focused on bringing restoration to their immune health through the proper nutrition. My nieces are living examples that immune health can be restored; and thus eczema irritation eliminated.
Vitamin E oil, chamomile, aloe, camphor oil, and colloidal oatmeal contain natural anti-itch properties as well as other healing properties. You stated that the emu oil provided you with some relief. The fact that you didn't have the complete relief that you desired is probably due to the fact that you hadn't identified your allergen/irritant culprit; and thus, the good work that you were doing was being countered by a still present allergen/irritant. You've got to remove the allergen/irritant from your environment.
