Hello Aunty,

We have a water purifier which removes chlorine and other chemicals from water. Water from this we use for drinking. However, from yesterday we are collecting enough water from this and using that for all bathing and cleaning for our son. Also, I confirmed with the manufacturer that the equipment delivers completely chlorine free water.

We understand the paramount importance of daily bath and cleaning the skin before applying cream onto it. Of course, we are bathing our baby daily. But washing his face, legs and hands, where the rashes are more severe, frequently (before applying cream onto it) is a problem. Every time, we wash those parts, he starts itching, thus inflicting injury and increasing the rashes. However, we think, if this is due to the harsh chemical in water, then once, he realizes that there is no more itching in water (because of it being chemical free), he will become less resistant towards frequent cleaning.

Regarding skin care we are using olive oil, petroleum jelly and Nivea cream

We primarily feed him with fresh vegetables, cereals and a health drink (Horlicks, this is mainly malt with some mineral and vitamin supplements). Occasionally we give him egg, chicken and fish. We also give him some fruit everyday.

The vegetables that we frequently eat are cauliflower, cabbage, capsicum, gourd, lady's finger, Pumpkin, beetroot, carrot, bitter gourd, drumstick, spinach, potato, tomato, mushroom etc.

Fruits that we normally eat are grapes, apple, papaya, water melon, mango, pomegranate, chiku, coconut etc.

We avoid giving him citrus fruits because that reduces the effectiveness of homeopathic medicine.

Recently we have stopped giving him dairy products except milk. However, we suspect milk could flare the rashes. So we decided to stop that from today.

One thing, we wonder, if we should let you know. At an age of about 1 year our son became anemic and it took him quite some time (about 5 – 6 months) to regain the normal iron level in blood. The root cause of the anemia was drinking excessive milk and less of other food stuffs.

Thanks very much.
SM
