i had a mirena inserted 2 months ago. the Depression that ensued following the insertion has been horendous. Berlex, the maker of mirena says that it will get better between 3 to 6 months. I am on anti depressants to try to get through this 6 month period. Still very hard. I would not recommend this if you have had other depressive episodes with birth control. It is not worth it. Some does get into your blood stream and Depression was noted, though rarely in clinical trials. I also have developed Acne as a result of the mirena.
