Why are you hanging around a vegetarian forum, may I ask? Maybe you should visit the Atkins forum. Vegetarians looking old at 40 is quite the opposite of what I've seen. I'm not going to argue here, I should probably write a book, but I have been UNBIASEDLY researching vegetarianism for about 20 years, seriously looking for the truth as to whether it is healthier to be vegan/vegetarian or carnivorous, and over the years I have seen overwhelming evidence for non-meat eating, both ethically and nutritionally. Basic books about nutrition in general say that vegetarianism is better. Most of these books were written before 1970, before corporate interests pervaded everything. I have experimented with both, having been on the Atkins diet for years, and I went back to vegetarianism after the meat eating caused me problems. It's obviously an individual decision and it takes self experimentation, but I never heard one case of anyone gaining health benefits from going from veg. to meat eating. FOR ME, it is hard to digest meat. Maybe others have a better time at it, I don't know. I say if you believe you need protien from meat, you better eat it.
