I love what you shared.
I am in the process of making my mind up to become a vegetarian and I am curious as to how you dealt with family and friends, when they found out you are a vegan.
Did you come out and told them or when you dine with them you just did not eat meat, or brought your own dish.
I asked because I had a hard time with my husband and friends when I started changing my eating habits to prepare my body for pregnancy and to lose weight, by giving up certain foods and juices. It is something I have been researching since last year and I have seen and felt the benefits of losing 29lbs, friends say to mean wow you look good your face is clear and clean, I have more energy, I feel great, before that I was very slow and sluggish, not wanting to do anything.
When my friends see me they say you are losing weight aren't you and I'll say yes and they say what diet are you on and I say I am not on a diet I am changing my eating habits which include more vegetables and fruit.
I really want to make the change for health and the things that I have discovered about the way they treat animals and feed animals with pesticide.
My major struggle is with sweets, baked goods and the fact that my husband eats meat and sweets and because I have no support from friends I find it hard at times and I give in, but when I do I feel the difference and I gain weight and I start feeling slow again and my back starts hurting.
I truly want to do it this time around, right now I am doing The Master Cleanse and I told myself after the cleanse I would like to be vegan.
I was wondering if you can be a vegetarian mentor to me. I would like to imitate you, I would love for my husband and my kids to become vegetarian.
I am 28yrs old and I always said whenever I am going to have a child and am going to eat healthy for my baby, that is what ultimately did for me. My husband and I said we would want to start a family this yr, so last october I started making the changes. The other reason behind it is that I have high cholesterol and diabetes runs in my family, but from my research I have learnt that disease are preventable by eating healthy and that the disease is not necessarily hereditary. I am not one to take pills, I do not like to take them, when I do I have to take them with food. I would rather bear the pain than to pop a pill, has I have also learnt pills are money making business for doctors and the companys that make them. So the idea of not taking pills is also pushing me to make the change.
The number one motivator that inspired me and keeps me fighting to be a vegetarian is GOD. In the yr 2001 God revealed to me how powerful and great being a vegetarian is, and also told me of the benefits in Daniel chapter one and in verse 12 daniel asked"Please test your servants for ten days: give us nothing but vegetables eat and water to drink. Then verse15 said "At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.
When I read this it stuck with me, I was not a vegetable eating person, I was the type that love to eat sweets, ice cream 24/7 with anything, process everything. I had to train myself to eat vegetables, drink water, drink vegetable juices. I would eat vegetables with meat, because I could not eat it by itself or with fruits. I have come a long way it took me three yrs to gradually wean myself off the things i would not even consider giving up at one point. I give all credit to God.
