Well, I have been on my fast now for 7 days...and I have lost 25 lbs. I am fairly heavy to begin with 5'4" 180lbs. and now 153 lbs. I think it takes a while for your body to adjust.
BUT one major thing I'd like to stress is that you will regain 5 lbs. immediately when you begin eating again. And the rest will continue to come back if you continue your old eating habits.
This is a very temporary solution and a good way to jump start a plateau. I had been stuck at 180 for almost a year with a 500 cal. a day diet, I couldn't lose one pound more for some reason...this fast has allowed me to move past that 180 mark.
You HAVE to make an effort to eat right afterwards....
Even on my Day 7 it is very difficult. You will have high and low times, but in my case, mostly low. Yesterday I could not sit up for more than half hour I was in bed literally ALL day. I have felt waves of nausea, dizziness, headaches, and heartburn throughout today. I think by my 10th day I will consider switching up with juice & water because I just feel too weak and just plain ol' crappy!
I have not tried on any of my regular clothes since I'm not too concern with my size right now, I just want to get through the day, I'll rejoice my size of jeans later, lol.
I have had about 9 different friends who all have fasted or still fast. Some fast for religious purposes and some fast for weightloss, it's all on you and what choice you fast for. Out of the 9 friends I would say half have kept the weight off, the others have gone back to old eating habits and are still struggling with their weight.
Alot of my friends either do short fasts (3-10 days) and a few have gone all the way to the 40 day mark (one went to 53 days!). I have noticed though that those that have made it that far did not have too many toxins (bad side effects) and were able to deal with it much easier than those who broke it. Again, just listen to your body, you WILL feel when it is time to break it or if you can continue.
Healthwise, I was looking to give my liver a rest and see if it will function a bit better after my fast. Some of my friends claim the fasts cleared up their face, cleared up warts, etc.
Everyone is different, we all have a history of what our bodies have gone through. No 2 fasts are alike...try it and see what your experience is...
I have yet to hear of anyone that has died or suffered from eating disorders from doing fasts (they usually have an ED before doing a fast)...I'm sure it's possible but I've never heard of any cases myself.
