And Dr. Clark agrees with him. In particular, she notes that the best source of calcium she can find in food is dairy.
Others do not agree with the "diary requirement". Dr. Schulze talks about a "protein need fantasy" with some amusement and annoyance. Other sources of calcium and other minerals are available, and Coral Calcium is my new favorite mineral supplement. Various sea vegetables show promise. Colloidal minerals from a source in Utah look really good. Etc.
Dairy is a convenient and tasty food source. Whether or not you *need* it is entirely personal. If you've reviewed all the available information on dairy and the alternatives and decided that dairy's for you, then it's for you! But if you've reviewed the data and determined that you'd prefer not to use dairy, that can work, too.
If you haven't reviewed the data (and thus taken it upon yourself to be responsible for your own health), then the choice made might not be best, especially if you're doing something because you think you have to and not because you want to.
If you want to be dairy-free, you can, and you can do it and be quite healthy. If you want to eat dairy, you can also do that and still be healthy.
Choices, choices...
