Hi, Cathay!

Twas you (Coral Calcium)! *blush!*

I make Colloidal Silver myself. I bought a generator from... ummm... http://www.sunstoneherbals.com/ It's the least expensive one I've found, and it does the job perfectly. For $40, you can get the basic system, or for $50 you can get all the accessories to go with it.

This one uses 99.99% pure silver wires (they sell refills). I've had it for several months now, and the wires are still quite good. Mostly, I make it now for my father in law.

When using a 27V DC electric current to generate the particles, the particles are always, I think, 1.26 angstrom in size. (It's tiny, in any case, and the particle sizes are always the same size.) Other voltages might produce different sizes, but I haven't looked into it any further than that. Sunstone Herbals includes a booklet which contains a bunch of data (including the precise size of the particles).

We bought some saline solution to use with it, when we want a really strong concentration, although I discovered that heating the water to 140 degrees F (or so) was also an excellent way to increase the concentration without using the saline. (We'd use just a drop...) We never did anything to alkalinize it; then again, I've never measured the pH of the colloid/suspension, either.

Without saline, we get a suspension on the order of 15 to 20 PPM (a nice dark golden color). With saline (which we've only done a few times), the color isn't golden, and I haven't figured a way to determine the concentration.

We've used Colloidal Silver to knock out a variety of viral and bacterial infections -- although now the zapper has replaced that function for us, so my silver usage has dropped off dramatically. (We've used it for ear infections successfully recently, however.)
