Whew! You're right -- you've given me a LOT of information. And another thing, too: hope, for the first time in months. (We've always steadily worked toward my son's healing, but lately, more often than not, it has felt like we're wandering in the dark.) Your posts have given us a new direction in which to stride purposefully, and I am tremendously grateful.

Here's the current plan of attack:

IMMEDIATE (already implemented)
* Dietary changes. (Eliminate fries, gumballs, and Sprite. Add dark green vegetables and more sources of vitamin C).
* Discontinue hydroxyzine and zyrtek.
* Switch to flouride-free toothpaste

IN PROGRESS
* Make bedtime fun. Last night it was "storytime in the bathtub by candlelight", (which worked fabulously), and my husband and I brainstormed to come up with a few more ideas for if/when that one gets old.
* Research water treatment. I have begun by requesting an updated water report from our utilities district, and am in the process of reading through the links you sent. I expect that this will be a major purchase for us, and so I want to be thorough in my research to ensure our decision is a wise one.

LONG-TERM
* Implement water treatment.

I expected that some of the changes would be more difficult than they have been:
* My first attempt at adding dark green veggies was two nights ago at dinner. I chose steamed brussel sprouts, with a little butter, because they are my favorite. My son said, "Mommy, these are SWEET! Can we have them tomorrow?" Success!
* We already had a tube of flouride-free toothpaste, it'd just gotten pushed aside in favor of one with Winnie the Pooh on the package. Winnie disappeared, and my son probably won't notice.
*Putting away the "drugs" has been a relief. I didn't realize how much I dreaded giving him medicine every night until I don't have to do it anymore.

THANK YOU for your time and your wisdom. I fully expect to see positive changes as a result of your advice, and will let you know as soon as I do.

May God bless you...
