Okay, very cool. NOW I can respect the messenger. :)

Funnily enough, I reacted to you because I got the same exact response from the Master-Cleanse people (Joanne particularly) when I suggested making changes to it! LOL! I have nothing against Water Fasting per se, just people making broad sweeping statements that reveal a partial understanding that could lead others into trouble. I'm actually glad to have a reference to point other people to when they ask about alternative fasts, I jsut couldn't trust it to be a good reference with the way you originally presented it.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the MC, altho I do like taking the Master-Cleanse drink instead of a meal every now and again, and have done it for some days. I find his recommendations for breaking the fast completely inadequate and unrealistic - orange juice is harsh! Additionally, Lemon juice is very hard on the liver and spleen, two organs usually very weak and depleted in people who are looking for a good cure. Maple syrup is highly glycemic. I don't follow the recipe as stated, I rarely put in more than a tablespoon of maple syrup, only enough to make it taste okay.

And your reference is right about table salt , but natural Sea Salt is full of great trace minerals that help PH balance tremendously. If there isn't enough sodium in the bloodstream, the hypothalamus will not let the body take in the water, it will simply pass thru the alimentary canal. So a bit of salt with each quart of water is recommended, especially after 2-3 days of sweating and flushing salts out of the system.

So I hope you no longer see me as an outraged evangelist of The Master Cleanse but rather someone who likes to practice good critical thinking and research and spurs others to do the same. ;)
