This runs contrary to what Cutler writes about ALA:

"LA can exacerbate gall bladder problems or other bile duct blockages."

And also the comments of many in the Yahoo chelation forums who have trouble using ALA solo, but have to combine it with DMSA or DMPS.

Unlike DMSA, most of what you read on the net about ALA is from its general use, not its use by people with mercury toxicity. Many mercury-toxic people who try to take large doses of ALA, particularly under Cutler's protocol of every 3 hours, get headaches and other symptoms. You would not know that from the generally glowing information regarding ALA on the net.
