Hmmm... a juice fast via purchased juices at a juice bar can get very, very expensive and very inconvenient. The juices they sell at Sunsplash wholefoods here in SW Florida are $6 bucks for a 16 ounce glass of juice. For me that would run about $25 a day, $30 plus if I have more than four 16 ounce glasses of juice. That would run at about $170 plus a week or $240 for 10 days ($24 a day multiplied by 10 days) depending on how many juices you have and what they cost. Your best bet would be just to buy a juicer and you can get decent starter juicers for under $100. Or you can fork out $150/200 and get a good juicer that would last you many years and you could then incorporate juicing into your everyday lifestyle once you come off your fast.
On a juice fast, I do approximately, on average, about four 16 ounce glasses of juices everyday of which 8 ounces of each 16 ounce glass is pure greens ranging from spinach, parsley, brocolli, kale (love that kale), swiss chard, wheatgrass, bell peppers, beet greens and so on. The other 8 ounces of that 16 ounce glass of juice is a mixture of carrots/apples, usually 4 to 5 large carrots and 2 apples. I also have my usual pineapple/celery/radish combo whenever the mood strikes me which is at least once a day. I love pineapple. So you can see how expensive getting my juices at a juice bar would be.
In addition to the four 16 ounce glass juices, I also drink a copious amount of water and herbal teas.
It takes about 3 to 4 days for the digestive system to shut down... so expect discomfort in the beginning (like the MC fast) but once it shuts down, you're on a roll and the peaks and highs of a juice fast usually begin around the second week of a 30 dayer. You'll still get great benefits from a 7 to 10 day fast and may lose up to 10 pounds depending on what you weigh and how many juices you drink and your activity level.
This link takes you to my blog which has all kinds of information on juice fasting, juicing, the various properties of fruits and veggies, in addition to lots of juice recipes: http://curezone.com/blogs/m.asp?f=573&i=78
Good luck, and I wish you the best on your decision. If you have any more questions, by all means, ask. There are tons of support here in the forums and on the juicing blogs.
Happy juicing,
