I had a similar question just recently. But I remember that I read in Paavo Airola's book that when you juice fast your body starts to break down old cells, damaged cells, diseased cells, etc. which all have protein in them. I think he stated that our body processes the protein while getting rid of the bad stuff. I think there is also protein in some of the juices we drink.

Has anyone heard about this?
