I think you should focus more on your behaviour than in his.

Why do you want a relationship like that?
Why do you try to redeem a guy like that?
Why do you try to please someone who is imposible to please?
Do you know something about codependency?
What is lacking in you, to get rid of this relationship?
Don´t you feel good enough to have something better?
Has he lower your selfsteem to the degree you need him to restore it?
Get out of this maze....but you have to want and try very hard!!!
