Coconut oil consistently gives me: strong acid indigestion (nothing else does), an odd sluggish feeling in my liver (nothing else does), and a slight stomach ache. This is from amounts as small as 1 teaspoon, either with or without other foods.

Please help me with ideas?? I don't get acid indigestion from any other food on the planet - as a matter of fact never even knew what acid indigestion felt like until the times I tried coconut oil.

The sluggish feeling it gives my liver is something I've also never felt from any other foods.

I am NOT allergic to coconut - I can drink coconut milk - the kind made from the white meat of the coconut that does have a tiny amount of the oil naturally in it, and apparently the small amount of the oil in that is not enough to set off my problems. The coconut meat itself is fine.

Help, I need some kind of oil I can use! I can't use butter due to strong dairy allergy (yes, for me that includes butter), ghee is too expensive/a pain to make, and I'm tired of olive oil for everything.

Maybe strong fat-digesting enzymes with each use of the coconut oil? But why, when other oils don't cause me these problems?

I used virgin organic coconut oil.

Sigh.
