Hi,

I am really glad you asked this question, because it gives me the chance to put across the view of VCO producers, who use the cold-process method.

Virtually all coconut oil is "cold-pressed", it means absolutely nothing, but companies put the word "cold-pressed" on their labels, hoping it will be confused with COLD-PROCESSED oil.

Cold-pressed oil is usually heated after the pressing, COLD-PROCESSED oil does not undergo any heating.

It is another argument, as to what effect the heat has on the oil, but as I said earlier, the only reason to state that oil is cold-pressed, is to try and confuse the buyer.

You will now find that many companies in the Philippines are trying to counter this problem by labelling their oil, ANH (Absolutely No Heat). I know there are now companies in the US selling ANH oil......and of course, in the UK, our company, Cocovida.

I really hope this makes sense, but you and I can both see how the confusion arises...........and why there is the attempt to confuse the buyer.

Steve
