Hello--

I used to live in the UP, and if I were still there, I'd try smelt in this recipe--it's very similar to the fish Sally Fallon is asking for here. If that's not available, I think I'd just use whatever fish is available, and cut it up into small pieces.

Hope it works--I haven't actually tried the recipe yet!
