Wow, how exciting to see this site. I found the Nourishing Traditions book and fell in love with it. I've been trying lots of the recipes (sourdough bread, beet kvass, saurkraut, whey and cream cheese) and am feeling very "nourished!"
Here's my problem. My husband and my friends all think I"m crazy. Also, my hubby is not too happy about the expense of raw milk, grass fed beef, organic butter, etc. My teaching partner at work and my sister are practically trying to sabotage me, telling me all the time how crazy I am. I have two young sons, and as immune system disorders run rampant in our family (particularly the allergy/eczema/asthma trio) I just am trying with everything I can to protect them from that, it has caused such misery in my own life.
Has anyone experienced this? It is a difficult and somewhat costly way to live (though I believe well worth it) so how do I convince others who don't buy into it that it is right for me and my family? And, what do I do about the well meaning adults EVERYWHERE who give my children candy and doughnuts and when I say no tell me that I am not a good mother and I will only turn them into rebels who will obsess on getting junk food because I won't let them have it at home?
OK, I've vented a bit, obviously it's been a hard day. Just needing support and wondering if anyone else has experienced this. IF any other moms feeling alone in this quest out there want to join together for some mutual cyber support, let me know! (or dads!)
