Good question.

If you look at your periodic table of elements, they are listed and numbered. (For a table of elements go www.webelements.com)
The lower the number the higher their position on the table,the greater their tendencies to be eliminated more readily.
For example, Aluminum #13 is easier to eliminate than mercury #80.
