Hello Wrenn ,
Thanks for the reply... Now I am totally confused, I always believed Canola Oil was a healthy choice as it is one of the recommended fats in the book that almost became my bible...
Beating Cancer with Nutrition by Patrick Quillin,it is in fact 3rd on his list below Olive and flax (both of which I use but as they do not tolerate heat well are not the best choice for some recipes), upon reading your reply I immediatly started googling Canola and got a bunch of info, some like you say bashing it others saying its healthy. I found this article which really has me wondering: http://www.karinya.com/canola.htm
I only use flax enriched soy milk usually , hmmm ...I wonder if there is such a thing as dried soy milk...might be better than the skim milk, I do eat eggs and cheese on occasion so I am not totally against dairy, I believe that there is a lot of healthy nutrition there especially in the egg whites.
We really wanted to make the chips as the texture is nice in cookies, banana bread etc ( Great, healthy recipes in Stevia cookbooks), you need that "chip" for it to truly taste right, the carob powder is great for flavour but that little chunk is missing...lol
I like your idea about the appricots and bananas etc...I am new to carob so I am in the discovery stage...though it is a very healthy and interesting natural product dating back 5000 years, they have even found it in the pyramids and used as a paste in the wraps of mummys ( ancient Egyption ones ... ;-)
I think I will not be buying any more canola oil though, I will try switching to olive and see how it works in baking items.
I am also going to Patrick Quillins website to see what he says about the Canola oil.
Will let you know the response if I receive one.

Healthy Wishes ,

Yoda...
