Yes, my bad! I did mean Peter not Paul but yes Paul was a disciple (a follower of Jesus) he WAS a thug and everything BEFORE God drammatically converted him and he turned his entire life around.
Yes, modern christianity DOES have pagan influences, but that is definitely NOT the cornerstone of our faith.
