some people define "bible thumper" as anybody with a bible, some as obeying the letter of the law. by been there done that ..... Christianity Debate

Of course, scripture is the Christian's guide to worship in spirit and truth (not to detract from the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the written word and Holy Spirit are a package deal for a Spirit-filled Christian), but, to be honest, I can understand someone being overwhelmed by those who preach Christ as being an oppressive tyrant. I am not saying that everybody who values the word is a WORD-filled Christian, I'm saying that the word is sometimes used in a very militant way (and this discredits Christianity and makes evangelism tougher because we have to explain this misconception).
