I use several approaches to Bible study. Sometimes I just pick a book or passage and start reading. This is probably the best way to start, just to get familiar with the Word. For simple reading for familiarity, I would use a modern language translation. They're not as good for a deep study, but they're fine for just reading.
After you've gotten familiar with the Word, another approach would be to get several different translations and read the same passage in each. This will help you avoid misunderstandings without having to be a learned theologian.
Another method is reading all the passages about a particular person or topic. This is where a cross-reference or concordance comes in handy. Also, below are some links to web-based Bible programs that allow you to look up things either by key words or direct reference. Let us know if you have any trouble knowing how to make use of those links.
Personally, I believe that when I was 15 the Holy Spirit gave me an insatiable appetite for Bible study. I couldn't stop if I wanted to, and I don't. It's like an addiction to me. God gives everyone different gifts, but sometimes I think he wants you to ask. I would encourage you to go to God in prayer and ask him how to study his Word. I'm sure he'll answer you.
