Finding the right baby formula (the right fit) for eczema babies is unique to each baby. Finding the right baby formula is important in the eczema healing process. Struggling to find the right baby formula is common among many eczema babies. With each of my 3 nieces, a different baby formula (one that worked best with their particular systems) was necessary for each of them. Alimentum by Similac was used for the first niece. Carnation Good Start was what worked best for the middle niece (she was allergic to soy). Carnation Good Start (with soy) worked best for the third niece. Not having the right baby formula was culprit for the eczema flareups experienced with my nieces. Our external remedy (the Burt's Bees Buttermilk lotion) would have only worked temporarily for us as well if we had not rid the allergen (wrong baby formula) from their diets. The Burt's Bees Baby Bee product line is not the only skin care regimen that works; and for some, it may not work at all. As I have stated before, more important than the product name is the product ingredient. And to reiterate another statement: even if you find the external moisturizer or cleansing regimen that works with the skin to promote the healing, the successful results for healing will be negatively impacted by the presence of an allergen/irritant that is still in the child's environment.
It is very important to identify your child's allergen; while at the same time, you are searching for a skin care regimen that will work best for your child's sensitive skin. It seems, with your child as it was for my nieces, that the baby formula is the allergen culprit. For babies with food allergens, there are several options for baby formula to consider: Alimentum by Similac, and Nutramigen and Progesterine by Enfamil. Because of the very severe allergic reaction that the middle niece developed with the soy based formula, I have to express that parents be aware of that possible allergen as well. However and referring to my nieces' cases, one can also see why it is important not to generalize (especially in the case of food allergens) when it comes to eczema sufferers. Although soy based formula was a major allergen for one niece, it actually worked best as a nutritional supplement for the other.
I stopped in my research for skin care solutions for infants at the Burt's Bees Baby Bee product line because it worked for my nieces; and therefore there wasn't a need to continue searching. However, in posting messages and hearing the cases of many suffering children (and in understanding the uniqueness of each eczema sufferer), I've since felt the need to start researching for other options that may bring about those same successful results. Researching more baby formula options, along with other skin care options is now beginning to take up more of my time. I'm not familiar with the Zenmed product line. I'll leave that research up to you. Nonetheless, I have come across a natural fragrance free option that you may want to give some consideration in your search as well: Borage Dry Skin Therapy Lotion (pediatric formula) by Shikai and their Fragrance Free bath wash. This product line can be purchased at Whole Foods Market as well.
To reiterate, the frustration of finding the right baby formula is a lot more common a problem than you may think. It was the case for each of my nieces; however we didn't stop until we found their right fit. Your child's right fit is out there and is important in creating the good internal balance that your baby needs to produce a healthy immune system. Basically, I took the long way of saying that just as important as finding the right external solution to your baby's eczema skin, is the importance of finding the right nutritional supplement needed to address the internal and promote a healthy immunity.
It's frustrating; however it is not hopeless. You're closer to success than you think.
