Then that is when you get the dentist to sign a contract that he will not use Amalgam fillings, have the dentist also agree that he will be the one doing the work. If he still uses it, then take his but to court - dentists like that don't deserve to be in business.
I would also take the kid back to the dentist, demand my money back and have the tooth pulled.
