OK, certainly you need to work on your stress - that is the underlying cause. However, in the meantime - you need to get your bite, or occlusion, corrected. Why? Instead of 16 teeth generating even pressure on 16 opposing teeth - you wind up hitting on a few thus not spreading the pressure evenly.

Wearing a nightguard while the bite is off may make things worse. You actually need to have your bite corrected and the nightguard adjusted as well. That you can do immediately - it isn't overly costly - and while Aetna may or may not cover that - its very important to get to that equilibrium.

There is a dentist, Ira Goldstine, in East Windsor NJ, who is Peter Dawson trained in occlusion. Call and tell them that Bob Mantz told you that he does bite adjustments and that you'd like to schedule 2 units of time for that reason. Let them know that you are coming a distance and that it is solely for the occlusion work. I would do this right away - they are good at getting folks in quickly. Do not forget to bring the nightguard. That too should fit comfortably with all 16 bottom teeth hitting the appliance at the same time. 609-448-7440

Then, you can wear the nightguard more comfortably while you find a more local dentist for you day to day dental needs.

From there - you need to find some outlet. Exercise, massage, yoga, karate, - something that lets you reduce your stress. I'd look for a good counselor.
Lobelia, calcium, St. John's Wort, skullcap, Nerve Formula from http://superfood.andmuchmore.com under Dr. Christophers products. Hot baths an hour before sleep. Hot cold showers, ending with hot before bed.

Once you have reduced your stress (I know -easier said then done) - you may need to adjust your bite once again.
