It is very important when purchasing crystals online
or thru picture viewing,
that you stay aware of the measurements used to describe.
Many pictures will show a ruler next to a crystal, stone, or bead/pendant.
this ruler may be in centimeters or in inches.
Carefully read the description!
what may look like a 3"x 2"x 1" crystal may in fact be same measurements , but in Centimeters!
this would mean that the actual crystal in inches after cm to inches conversion is truthfully 1.19" x 0.794" x 0.397"
a VERY BIG difference ! *smile*

the conversion ratio is as follows:
10 millimeters = 1 centimeter
to convert a 30 millimeter measurement, divide it by 10
to get the centimeter size : 30 mms divided by 10 = 3 cms
........................................................
to then find the size of 3 cms in inches, multiply cms by 0.397
so 3 cms would equal 3. x 0.397 = appr 1.19 inches.
.........................................................
AS far as beads go (rounded beads) general rule of thumb:
2-4 mm tiny to very small / delicate
5-7 average size most generally used.
8-10 excellent size for larger, or accent beads.
10 and above/ probably not good for bracelets,
since the larger round will rub more against counters etc/
this would be great as the focal point of a necklace
or for those that like bold jewelry.
be sure to consider weight if you string your own jewelry.
choose appropriate strength as the necklace can get very heavy,
the larger the sizes, and esp if using genuine gemstones.
.....................................................
another tip to remember:
mass vs size does make a difference.
a large natural or faceted single stone will generally output more energy, than a few very small beads, UNLESS you have a larger mass of those beads.
example: if wanting to purchase chipped aquamarine necklace,
or something with aquamarine chips in it, and are wanting the properties of the aquamarine for personal reasons,
it might be best to simply purchase a large aquamarine pendant or
natural or faceted stone, or ring even, vs a small amt of chipped aquamarine worked into a necklace.
This is not to say that chipped stones are not useful or that they are inferior to other stones.
if you like chipped stones enjoy them, but buy enough MASS of them to truly get the benefits.
one of my favorite necklaces is a chipped dark green tourmaline,
about 28 " long. It is full of superb energy, and i keep it on one of my cleansing rechargers when not in use.
many gemstones can get very pricey to buy in other bead forms because of the delicate nature/ brittleness or softness of the gem., often you can get great deals by buying the chipped versions of these.
just make sure you get a good MASS on the necklace.
hope these measurements help 8)
