You are a very perceptive person and have actually verbalized the situation better than I would have ever been able to! Your observations are - for all practical purposes - 100% correct!

She actually contacted me the other day and wanted to talk. We ended up talking for three hours - without yelling or arguing once.

When we were done - she reluctantly agreed to make another go at it - slowly. She said the reason she wanted to talk was to tell me that it was over, but after talking to me she changed her mind - she says I am a very persuasive person. I was making a consious effort to be considerate and calm, but wasn't actually trying to talk her into anything.

We have talked a couple times since then and it went well. I think she is sincere and warming back up to me, though she admits she still has a lot of doubts.
