I'll tell ya mu situation.

I am a firm believer in natural therapies and actively subscribe to its many healing methods (diet, cleansing, herbs etc) and respect the natural healing ability of our bodies. I have become disillusioned with the medical paradigm, although valuable in some instances of course.

However, I no longer hold the Chiropractic art in high regard as I once did.
You can learn much if you do some research into the profession and its philosophy and discover things many average Joe’s are not aware of - with an open mind, of course.

The profession lacks unanimity and cannot decide on what it is treating (subluxation is controversial among the profession, and has never been proven to exist, nor can they in controlled clinical trials). They cannot agree on how to treat it (“straight/hole-in-one” or “mixed” methods? etc) It has a poorly defined scope of practice (do we treat musco-skeletal disorders or practically every ailment? Should we treat babies and children?).

Of course, it lacks significant scientific evidence and research and is based on pseudo-science and vitalistic philosophy. It includes other pseudo scientific methods proven false (Applied Kinesiology). Any lack of embrace with Science is a convenient way for practitioners to not be held accountable to any standard.

We need to learn more about what we subscribe to. Just because it sounds good, doesn’t mean it is.
