i think most of us have already seen some of the click group tactics you speak of... perhaps our only alternative is status quo... just keep encouraging everyone to have an "open mind"... and determine for themselves...
what we see happening all too often in the Debate Forums is usually two very closed minded people... which means both parties believe they are right and out to prove the other wrong... and they usually just end up with a lot of name calling and bashing each other... yet i must confess... that i myself have been guilty of being caught up in fray at times... but the trick to a debate is to try to let the other person see for themselves where they might be wrong... or need improving... which can sometimes prove a most difficult task...
the only person i have problems with is the 'troll'... that come not to support but to tear down... and personally the only way i've found to deal with such people is to ignore them... but here again i have been guilty of being caught up in the fray... and i should simply alert and allow the moderators to be the judge... but as you stated "wrenn" when one resists/fights these particular type people one only serve to give them fuel... the harder one resists the stronger the opposing force becomes... what usually happens is they will try to turn ones own words against
them... i've found it best for me to simply ignore them... let them rant and rave all they wish and eventually they fade away...
so... when i can make myself take my own advice it usually turns out right... but on the other hand... why do i have such a hard time taking my own advice...
lol...
;-)
sometimes it is difficult to allow the other person "the right to be wrong"...
