While I agree that the negative posts posted with just a number are annoying, I must respectively disagree with the idea of doing away with anonymity all together. Sometimes even regular contributors to the site have problems or questions they need to keep as private as possible. Plus moderators can see who is doing the posting, and can take necessary actions against improper posts. I have only used the anonymous number a couple of times myself. Once it was when depression, pain, health problems, and resulting financial problems had me on the verge of suicide. I did not want to undo whatever positive input I had given Curezone, but I was desperate for help and support. I received many compassionate replies from fellow forum members who were reaching out to help a stranger, and I had a personal e-mail from Lapis, for whom I was not just a number, he knew who was beneath the number.
I truly believe that the anonymous option is important, although it is wrong to hide behind a number when making negative posts or derogatory comments. Like Hanna, I wish more people would adopt user names that would protect their personal identity, but help us get to know them better than just a hard to remember number. Still, we should be about trying our best to help and support anyone who posts with a legitimate question or comment; just as most of us have have been helped in the past. Hopefully, the moderators will continue to deal with negative posts and repeat offenders.
