Hello!
Janaki and I are posting a response at almost the same time, and I am changing some of my words as to not be redundant. She has described the session well.
The only thing I would add is to be selective as to the Reiki practitioner who works with you. If one is not clear, one tends to channel their own stuff along with the Reiki energy as well. I have had a couple experiences with practitioners with let's say issues, and now I am very protective as to whose energies mingle with mine. After all, it is a rather energetically intimate experience dancing within each others energy fields.
Also, I would highly recommend investing in a Reiki workshop and learning it yourself. It will save much money in the long run, not having to pay practitioners. In my area a Reiki session goes from $50. to $75. an hour. Again, ask around and get an enlightened Reiki Master to attune you. There are too many people jumping on this bandwagon here in my area, just to add it to their menu in fancy salons. AND....another option is to step into the belief system that you are already attuned to the Universal Life Force and don't need anyone's attunment. There are some books that are available to show the positions to hold on the body, but even that is not necessary. Let your intuition show you wear to place your hands on any areas that feel depleted, with intention. Also, you could place your hands on each chakra for 5 minutes or so.
Have fun and heal!!!
