I am not a Reiki Master, but am a Reiki Master Healer. I have dont all levels of Usui and Karuna Reiki and have successfully cured more than a hundred patients now. I have some of my own practices and experiences that i would love to tell you regarding negativity.

Although Reiki is only a positive energy not doing anything negative to either the practitioner nor the patients, i have felt some bad effects of negativities in the patients. As a practice i have always first cured and removed if the patients have any negativity and then cure the problem, however sometimes, i bypass the process of first pretecting myself and/or the client. I did a patient in November 2003, who had a severe airthritis, without any protections and short after the treatment i felt very uncomfortable and restless. No physical effect was observed but the mental balance was shaken up and neither did the patient report any improvement.

Some thoughts came to my mind after a few hours and i used my dowser to determine if there was any negativity, the result showed positive. There was a negativity in her and so my treatment didnt work too great. I called her up at night and told her that i am doing another treatment - distant - and she should be aware of it as she goes to sleep. So I first purified myself then her and cleared all her negativities, followed by the treatment. The very next morning, she told me that she is feeling a little better and after almost a month, she was very much close to normal.

A few more incidences had happened before but i used to take it lightly, but now i dont. Before starting any treatnemt i protect myself, i am making a habit of protecting myself everyday in the morning while taking a shower and feel a lot better.

I would recommend that you should perform the protection routine before any treatment. All it takes is 5 minutes which i am sure is very comfortable.
