You wanted advice and/or opinion- you got it. What we do in our life is different from any advice. Nobody can decide for you obviously and when you do you have consequences all to yourself.
By the way... as I said, I lived on the different continent when I met my husband. We sure couldn't be together for almost 4 years. Only true love conquers and survives distance and time. :))
