About 3 years ago, I was doing some
weight-lifting exercises -- dumbbell
raises on a slant board -- when my
left shoulder went into painful
spasm. I dropped the dumbbells and
clutched my shoulder. I found that
I had limited movement in it.
The next day, I lay flat on my
back on the floor. I stretched my
right arm out, bent the elbow,
and lay the arm flat on the floor,
my fingers pointing in the same
direction as my head. No problem.
But when I tried to do that to
my left shoulder, I found that my
forearm would not lie flat on the
floor. It had frozen at a 45 degree
angle. There was no way I could
bend that left forearm flat on the
floor.
I'd been blessed with radiant health
for 25 years, so I had no experience
with doctors. I did some research on
the Internet, and found that I was
suffering from frozen shoulder.
I went to four different doctors,
including a Chinese herbalist,
a chiropractor, and Naturopath who
has a reputation as a healer.
None of them could help me. In the
months that followed, I bought
just about every supplement in the
world -- including one from New
Zealand -- that promised help for
joint injuries. Alas, none of them
helped me. For 8 months, the
shoulder remained frozen. Nothing I
did, including stretching, helped
even a little bit.
And then I met a yoga teacher and
massage therapist on the beach
(I'd been to two other massage
therapists who could do nothing).
This man examined my shoulder
briefly, looked deep into my eyes,
and said that he could heal me.
Or rather, he could loosen the
restrictions so my body would heal
itself. For the first time, I felt
hope.
It took 3 bodyworking sessions, but
he unfroze my shoulder. Within 2
months, I had 90 percent of my
mobility back. Today, it's 100
percent. Needless to say, I no
longer do dumbbell raises on slant
boards! I gave away all my heavier
weights. And I now take the one
supplement that works for me:
Joint Advantage, which is made by
Dr. David Wlliams. It eliminated
a mild ache I used to have in my
right knee.
A friend who also went through the
ordeal of a frozen shoulder, told me
that no matter WHAT you do or don't
do, most frozen shoulders will heal
themselves after about 9 months.
I don't know. Maybe that's what
happened to me. But I'm inclined to
give credit to my massage-therapist
friend. He has healing hands, and
has helped a lot of people.
If you have a frozen shoulder, my
advice would be find the VERY best
massage-therapist, bodyworker in your area. Ask around. You want
someone who can FEEL energy blockages in your body, and loosen
them. That sounds like magic to
Westerners, but I assure you such
people do exist.
Good luck in your quest!
Blessings,
Owen
