I think what I had would be called bursitis. Basically I strained it while mowing and afterwards it was very sore and inflamed. I couldn't move it beyond a certain point because of the pain. The pain and inflammation lingered for months. Eventually I started taking licorice and long story short the problems in my shoulder cleared up quickly. I was using the licorice extract, not the DGL stuff. You do have to be careful and take potassium supplements with it if you take it long-term because you can get edema and high blood pressure.
