Have you tried EFT? It's inexpensive, you actually can start for free by downloading a free manual and signing up for a newsletter, and only if you think it's something you want to explore furher and would like to perfect the technique you can purchuse the tapes (which are not that expensive, not sure what the other thing you're talking about costs). What is very refreshing is that it is clear to see that Gary Craig, who is the founder, is not out there to make a quick buck, he has a genuine concern and desire to help people.
The website is emofree.com. It is used mainly to erase negative emotions, limiting beliefs etc, but people seem to have great results with it for just about anything.
