Hello Janaki,
Thank you so much for all the information you have shared with me. I will definitely check out the schools you have suggested.
I totally understand what you mean when you say, "...most of the yoga teachers and centres that you have encountered de-emphasize the spiritual aspect of yoga.....so what they offer students is a very incomplete picture. "
This is so true...maybe it explains why I haven't found the ideal teacher for me....Yoga has been taught to me in fragments.
It's funny that you should mention considering taking a Teachers Training course. About a year ago, I decided the same thing. I researched local schools offering the program and styles of yoga. However, when I approached one of my private instructors of 8 years with this decision it wasn't support I was given. I was totally discouraged. She looked at me as if I was from Mars. Unfortunately, our relationship has never been the same....I still attend her classes. We don't communicate anymore just a mere hello and goodbye. I don't really understand what the problem was in me saying that I wanted to do a teachers training program....She lectured about how teaching is not for everyone and that most are not suited for it and on and on....Anyway, so my search ended and I've just continued taking classes from others.
I still do my own mini practice at home but I'm sure it would be enhanced if I had the proper formal training.
Thank you for the tip on scoliosis. I've picked up a book by Mukanda Stiles 'Structural Yoga Therapy'....It has a lot of wonderful tips too.
Again, thanks a bunch for your thoughts.
shanti
