That just doesn't seem right. It seems like the parents should have the right to allow their child to seek alternative treatment. As long as they did not completely ignore the government's requests for documentation showing that he was receiving some sort of treatment (alternative or otherwise), social services shouldn't have been able to charge them with neglect. Besides that, he is 16 years old... kids much younger than that are being treated as adults in certain situations... seems like he should have had some say in it all.
*IF* this is the whole story (and I'm still not sure I believe that we've got all of the relevant information), it's very scary to see how little freedom we actually have. The saddest part of all, however, is that this whole thing has most likely added quite a bit of stress to Starchild and his recovery process. It's sad that the government is hurting the person they're trying so hard to help.
