It's hardly ever that simple. Did you know that out of all the damages done by doctors, prescriptions and people's juggling how they use both, only 5% (and I think this number is even smaller)of those souls maimed, crippled or killed even sue!

Out of the ones who sue, using lawyers who you allege cause the entire high insurance problem, less than 1% win malpractice cases. As we all know, people have other ways of "getting even" and for other reasons you would think doctors wouldn't fight restitution so hard.

So if you can picture yourself paying $70,000 in insurance while you make a total of $200,000 a year, do you think you could live on $130,000 a year? Or could you barely make ends meet? If most people knew doctors grumble about having to eek out a living on $100,000 a year take home salary, they would be very frightened of going to them. Is there any room in their brains to work at some other things in life besides making ever increasing amounts of money, like making the effort for a more balanced life style, helping those around them and expanding their mind. Any discipline or virtue you select to work on will necessarily take that amount of time away from making money. (They are married to their job.) Why can't they emotionally afford to do this?

As for the government stepping in, the AMA will be there to see rules are passed in their favor not the people's favor--unless your lobby is stronger than theirs. Even though wonderful people/senators may be for reform, I agree with who ever said," I wonder just who is supposed to benefit from this process of reform, the general public or the drug companies."

How do we know high insurance premiums is the major reason for the medical flight to Thailand, ect. and not merely the given reason? What do they plan to do there...live out the rest of their lives?
