I say that because I had suffered severe muscle and joint pain, irritability, major depression, and an unexplained low grade fever for months before I insisted that my doctor rule out a vitamin deficiency. (Good thing I was a nursing student.) She did a complete blood workup and discovered that my hematocrit, RBC count, lymphocyte count, hemoglobin, and iron were all low. The biggie? I was *severely* B-12 deficient. Did a Schilling test and discovered that my body could not absorb B-12 from the food I eat. I took 7 injections of Cobolamin in April this year and now take an injection monthly. I can't begin to tell you the difference it has made in my life. I have so much more energy. The Depression is gone. No more muscle and joint pain. The human body has an 8 - 10y store of B-12; my store was gone. Normal levels are between 600-1100 pcg/ml. Psychiatrists treat B-12 deficient- Depression at 400 pcg/ml. Primary family physicians treat B-12 defiency at below 200 pcg/ml. I was at 197 pcg/ml when I initially received treatment.
What else did I find out? I tested negative for cancer antibodies, but I'm in the 1% of the population who tests positive for lupus antibodies without actually having lupus.
Don't give up. The answer is out there. Hope this helps... :o)
