If you use cold water to mix your b&p up in then it takes longer to gel up. I always use cold water. You definitely have to wait an hour on either side to eat. The b&p needs to work it's way through your system by itself, without food to interfere with it's scrubbing. (plus you don't want to absorb the nutrients of the food and eliminate them too)
