I have some questions on colon cleansing, but first want to pass along my experiences so far.

I have done four liver flushes, and the Lemonade Diet twice: the first time was for six days just before Christmas, the second from March 24 to April 6, and started the third last Sunday. On Day 5 of the second cleanse, I started the B&P shakes; one a day for the first few days, and two (sometimes three) per day up to the present time.

Nothing happened right away, but ten days after completing the Lemonade Diet , I passed three huge "ropes" and have passed at least one per day ever since (I define a "rope" as at least one foot in length, or as they're sometimes called in this forum, a "footlong"). No need to go into details, but they have been all kinds of shapes and colors. The ropes are not 100% mucoid plaque, but usually there's some in there. I've also noticed that food moves right through me; transit time through my entire digestive system is now around 24 hours.

I'm quite pleased with this, but wondering how long it will take to get rid of all the mucoid plaque. Considering the fact that I was a "dining out junkie" for many years, it's probably going to take months. One of my favorites was going to a particular restaurant for late-night breakfast: ham and cheese omelette, hash browns, toast and coffee. Then came back home and went straight to bed because I work an early schedule. I did that three or four nights a week. Also, there was Sunday morning breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and coffee. Not very healthy, and probably very plaque-forming!

However, it looks like I'm making progress. One day last week I passed something that was not the usual dark brown but had some black lumps. Hope this means I'm getting into the deeper layers of mucoid plaque.

Speaking of the B&P shakes: ever since starting them, I have felt slightly constipated, even though I have been passing huge ropes. Maybe this sensation is from the psyllium husks expanding and brushing the colon...I really don't know. Perhaps I need to drink more water, but with the results I'm getting, I don't want to tamper with success.

Here are my questions:

1. I have read a couple of Dr Anderson's articles on colon cleansing, and he states that the colon expands because of the mucoid plaque buildup. Therefore, as the plaque is gradually removed, will my colon start shrinking back to a smaller size?

Here's why I'm asking: I achieved my weight loss goal (25 pounds) after completing the Lemonade Diet last December, but still have some "midriff bulge". Part of it is some remaining "blubber", not loose skin from the weight loss. (By the way, according to the Body Mass Index, my weight is now in the "normal" range). I've had no problem keeping the weight off, thanks to a radical change to a healthy diet, a juice machine, and working out at the health club 4 or 5 days a week. But oh how I miss those late-night breakfasts!!.

However, since I started passing these daily "ropes", my new, smaller pairs of jeans and dress pants are getting quite loose. Until I started my third lemonade diet last Sunday, I really hadn't lost any more weight (well, maybe two or three pounds). The biggest surprise came a couple of weeks ago when I tried on one of my disco outfits I wore when I was in my 20's (I'm 51 now)...and the pants fit!

2. In "Journey to the Center of the Colon", Dr O'Shea indicates that one cause - possibly the primary cause? - of colon cancer is the blockage by mucoid plaque, and how food gets trapped in the colon for months and years, which leads to all sorts of problems. Therefore, I'm assuming that when I get rid of most - hopefully all - of the plaque I will significantly reduce my risk of colon cancer. Am I correct?

This is important to me because there is a history of colon cancer on BOTH sides of my family. In addition, both parents and three cousins have had polyps, but so far none have been cancerous. I watched a grandfather, an uncle, and two aunts (all blood relatives) die a slow, painful death from colon/intestinal cancer. It's a horrible way to go, and I have no intention of travelling down that road.

3. A friend of mine knows someone who works at a local health food store, and she said the B&P shakes are nice, but the plaque removal process would work better if I used something that would help loosen up the plaque. Are there any foods - or a particular fruit or vegetable that I can run through the juicer - that would do this? I'm really not into taking herb supplements or pills, but looking for a specific food or food combination. If taking an herb supplement for a short period of time would work, then I would certainly consider it.

A final item: one night last week I read the "Soy-tainly Not" article by Dr O'Shea (www.thedoctorwithin.com) and it scared me! That evening, I ate a piece of Hillbilly bread and instead of spreading margarine (plastic) on it, I poured out some extra virgin cold-pressed olive oil and dipped the bread in the oil. It really tasted good! The next day was garbage pickup, and the margarine went out with the garbage. Never again.

I've been following the bowel cleanse, fasting, and Liver Flush Forum s since last October, when a Yahoo search brought me to a site called curezone.com. However, this is my first message because I'm a rather shy person - even in the "faceless" world of the Internet. I would like to personally thank Southern Belle, Tracey, PTree, Spirit, and several others (whose names I can't recall) for sharing some of their own experiences and taking the time to answer people's questions, because I've asked many of those same questions myself.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks in advance for any answers.
