The thing most misunderstood about Bush is the ASSUMPTION that he actually has an internal set of values. I worked the capitol in Austin in 1992 when the first Bush governor's administration was set up. As an organizational consultant it interested me because I always try to determine an organization's basic values. In that case I found that THERE WERE NO CONSISTENT SET OF VALUES at the core of the Bush administration. I watched this strange phenomomen through both his terms and now in the presidency.
His net actions are the results of the push of several key advisors, formost being Karl Rove. Read the book Bush's Brain to get a view of this.
I have written a novel, Capitol Offense, set in the Texas Legislature in 1999 when Bush was running for president. The fictional governor in my novel has no internal values and depends on advisors for his steering. It may sound familiar. Capitol Offense will give you a good was to understand a lot of what you see in today's national leadership. It's available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, etc.
