Shannonu,
Congratulations to you and your husband! That is wonderful news for both of you. My closest friend has been diagnosed with mild Crohn's. . . and within two weeks now, we are already seeing improvements. Her stool has hardened (she still hates it when I talk like that) and she reports her intestinal pain is down 75%.
My stepfather had his entire colon removed because of Crohn's. I don't fault anyone. . this was a HUGE relief for him. However, it is likewise sad that more wasn't discovered about the basic diet when he was stricken.
Yes, no dairy, no Sugar (maybe a little all-natural honey, eh?), no wheat. . and it's been amazing. Gosh, two weeks and she'd been grabbing at her stomach the entire two years I've known her. As you say, my going on the diet has helped too. I'm not as strict as she is. . but gee whiz, gaining energy.
Please post more about your experience. I'm honestly bowled over by the way this illness is being treated by surgeons versus nutritionists. Massive difference.
