Hi Scott,

I'm a thymic carcinoma patient, and because I have such a rare form of cancer, I have been relying on treatments designed for other forms of cancer. Some of the cancer drugs I've been looking into seem particularly effective on renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients.

Most target therapy drugs (vs. chemo drugs which target any fast-growing cell in your body), target cancer cells by preventing them from making use of certain receptors required for angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), therefore starving the cancer cells to death. One particularly important group of receptors for angiogenesis is the VEGFR family. Two of the newest target therapy drugs, Nexavar(sorafenib) and Sutent (sunitinib - the one I'm on) were approved by the FDA for RCC just recently. The reason RCC responds so well to these drugs is because they overexpress VEGF receptors significantly more than other forms of cancer.

There may be other reasons why RCC is unique to other forms of cancer, but the reason I mentioned may be one critical point to consider.

If you don't mind my asking, does your friend feel that glyconutrients helped him in his battle against RCC, and from where did he obtain his glyconutrients?
