Colin Powell, we hardly knew ye!
Rumor has it in the Officer Corp, that you took advantage of every "minority" opportunity... Well, good for you. You opened the door when opportunity knocked.
Although, I haven't read your book, when you did get national recognition, I was deeply impressed with your intellect and demeanor. Had you run for president, you 'ld have gotten my vote - Republican or Democrat!
I believe you attempted to steer the Iraq conflict toward a UN solution. It was apparent that the neo-conservatives convinced President Bush that the unilateral invasion of a non-aggressive soverign nation was preferable to a negotiated disarmament. When we invaded Iraq, Mr. Powell, why did you remain in the Administration? It would appear that the destruction of a nation and the killing of thousands of civilians was not sufficient reason to terminate your relationship with a goverment that is despised by 90 percent of the world's citizens.
Harry Belafonte called you a slave. His statement angered me and I stood in your behalf. No more, Mr. Powell - You are a Tom.
Now, the Bush Administration is eating its' young. And you, Colin Powell, are the main course. The neo-Nazis are drunk from their Iraq success
and they don't have the patience to pamper you and your bleeding-heart pacifists. You could have stood like a man... Instead you remained flexible and hung in there. Tactical error, General. You vastly over-estimated the quality of character of the scum you were confronting.
Soon, you will be asked to resign. Don't voluntarily do it. Get a spine! You might have run for President and won... no more. Once again, you've chosen security over idealism. You will, now, fade into the mist of American mighta' beens.
