I have had colitis for 20 years and I agree with you, the meds are toxic. I can't in good conscious tell you to skip them but I stopped taking them 10 years ago. I had the same symptoms and could no longer afford to miss work. I eat healthy, no dairy, very little carb, lots of fish and chicken and some red meat. I also takes lots of vitamins and drink lots of water. I stay away from alcohol and spicy food. Lots of sleep and yoga keep me calm. I take prednizone only when I flare and it seems to work. My doctor thinks I am an idiot, but I care more about my quality of life.
